DREAM:IN Conclave

The very moment our bus entered SIT, Tumkur, I got the feeling that something big gonna happen today, with our month long hardwork this place will tell us what next!

SIT, MBA Audition entrance.

SIT, Tumkur greeted us with open arms, Dr. M.R. Shollapur, Director was very welcoming and with his smiling face we saw that he was very happy to be part of DREAM:IN as we are. We proposed many ideas to him and he promised to start working on it right away. Dr. Shollapur took us to Siddaganga Mutt after we finish our Conclave and we met 105 yrs old seers, His Holiness Sri Sri Shivkumara Swamiji, because without his blessing we couldn't be able to reach so far and he will continue his blessing which will guide us in near future.

His Holiness Sri Sri Shivkumara Swamiji.

Carlos Teixeira, Director of Academic Affairs (School of Design Strategies) at Parsons The New School for Design.

We were surprised, I was surprise to see Arundhati Nag today, she was very sparkling and energetic throughout the day and a down to earth person, she was interacting freely with everyone, sharing her view and opinion.

Arundhati Nag, film actress and theatre personality. she acted in the film Paa. Her role earned her a Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actress nomination.

I should also mention what Sandra Ma'am did for us, giving me and friends the opportunity to explore and learn, we learned something beyond from our regular way of learning patterns. NICC has always welcomed such initiative were Design takes part in and communicate and let the student free to experience that. We are very thankful to Vipin Sir and Jeevan Sir, I will consider them as our Protein Powder for us in this DREAM:IN journey.

Sandra Ma'am and Vipin Sir with the Italian delegates.

Last but not the least our mentor our guide Avy Sir. He was with us from Day 01, when we went to Idiom,  I saw him sitting in one corner with his laptop. His sense of humor and the leadership quality took us so future, our success story is not complete without him. He is tough but very friendly.

And have a look at this, we call this DREAM TREE, people tie their dreams and DREAM:IN try to fulfill that.

Journey: team -BHOOMI ( Rhutuja , akshara , Anirban, vishnu)

DREAM:IN journey tumkur was one of the most unique experiences we ever had. it was a job that we liked, although it had roaming under the sun and going into places that we were not comfortable with.

Day:1 tumkur was a great day. We were nervous as it was the first actual interview we did the and there was the 1st actual interview we did and there was no room for mistakes. But as we started off, familiarity with our work and our purpose for tumkur, made us more confident and comfortable with the place.
Great dreams came out from SIET College where ankitha wanted to build malls and archan wanted to open a blood bank especially for negative blood group. Young dreams had a lot of potential in tumkur.

Day:3 next stop was sira, sira was comparatively a huge town and was a developing place. Dreams of sira were to make sira into a district. A place with lot of potential, shyam sundar kochi, principal of government first grade college had a dream of making his students dream.

Day:4 dreams of kunigal were very different and imaginative. Students of Siddhartha ITI College had an out of box thinking and were confident about their dreams

Day:5 chikkanayakahalli was a big challenge for us. People were shy and were very suspicious about us. They despised people speaking or writing in English and thought we were from England. Misconception led to a very awkward situation for us. The local police were anaware of DREAM:IN and questioned us. Although the situation was handled well.

Day:6 tiptur was a city of his own, with its population and upcoming infrastructure, government a different shape to tumkur district. The dreams were quite common about tiptur on its development. But the response was large.

Day:7 turuvekere was a small town. The numbers of dream were expected to be low but different dreams were captured. Asif a student wanted to recognize young talent in dance in rural areas and polish them.

Day :8 gubbi was a big town whre we happened to meet students mostly with the aim of becoming an IAS officer and serving there district. Mr. Sudhee, head of gubbi labs had a special library which help to all sought of children’s to learn according to their level of studies, teaching is been taken place in the library itself.

Day:9 kortagere was a very small town. Being Sunday it was hard to find dreams. Roaming in the streets also gave us a hard time as people were not responding.

A trip that made me know what dreams look like

A team always works when there is an uni-directional goal. Kudos to our team Dream:In who has worked hard to capture some of the glorious dreams ever possible.

After nine days of extensive field work, one thing that always reminds me is the way I perceived the journey would be and how unique it really turned out to be. With fourteen members on the trip including our mentor, we are sure today to identify what a person dreams in the second minute of the conversation. This has also enabled us to look forward and think for a moment how different can minds work when they are exposed to social and personal drifts around them. Tiresome was the journey, but the feel of experience is still fresh in my mind which will continue to be as a dreamer. Looking forward to scape the collected dreams and I do have a positive foresight that designers like us are very essential to use these research materials and turn them something fruitful for the society. This would complete the project.

DAY 09_KORATAGERE_Team Agni

Koratagere, our last and final taluks to cover. From past 8 days we were traveling all the taluks and this one Koratagere had turn out the toughest, because the place was too small and no. of dreams were also less compared to other taluks. As usual all the team splited up to capture dreams.
By lunch we wrapped up from their with collective dreams of 52 dreams and thats how we end our dream:in journey and from Koratagere we left for Bangalore.

Sachin our UPS, Team Agni would have been nothing without him, because of his good communication skill and additional advantage of kannada helped us a lot in the tough time were people can only talk in kannada.

Sid worried about CSK, coz they faced KKR in the finals. and the end result is KKR won this season. SORRY SID.

We would like to congratulate TEAM VAJU for their performance in the last day, with maximum nos. of dream captured by them and defeating  TEAM AGNI for the first time. Godd job by Pradeep, Vishnu adn Shreya :P

Happy and safe landing at Bangalore!

Finally it was the last day and the last but not the least dreamcatching drill was at Koratagere.
2 roads and the place ends! Team Vayu was in high spirits as always and so we caught some 15 dreams in 2 hours at this kutty place! Later we finished the dreamcatching by interviewing 20 people; again the quality and quantity was satisfactory. Three cheers to Pradeep for interviewing even though he has ulcers in his mouth. Altogether all the teams managed to get some 50+ dreams. Now our journey ends here, but this is the beginning!! It was a great experience for all of us and I'm sure that all would cherish these moments.

Dream:In journey ends here on a happy and successful manner! Looking forward to Dreamscaping and Conclave.

Interviewing a Judicial Dept. Officer.

Capturing dreams of a common man; Auto driver @ Koratagere.

After 10 days stay in Tumkur, traveling all the Taluks we finally finished our Dream:In journey today. As usual we left Tumkur with all our bag pack coz after covering Koratagere we will leave directly to Bangalore from there. We finished catching dreams by lunch and we headed to Bangalore and we reached NICC hostel at 4pm.
More details coming soon.

Dream Journey : Team Vayu [Pradeep, Shreya, Vishnu]

Day1: Tumkur

On the very first day the team set out on the streets of Tumkur with full enthusiasm and hopes to capture the dreams of the people. The day started off talking to people on streets and a slum in the neighborhood. The experience was great! We managed to capture few good dreams, so, the first day wasn't that bad.
 Smiles in the slums

Day2 : Pavagada

The spirits were high as we set out for Pavagada. We dropped two teams- Agni & Bhoomi @ Madhugiri and continued our journey to Pavagada. On the way the bus tyre  got punctured and to our surprise the bus didn't have jack to fix it. We some how managed to fix it with the help of a tractorwala and finally reached the destiny. Dreamcatching started pretty late that day for the teams Vayu & Jala. But still the score wasn't that bad and we got some very good dreams. A fruitful day for sure!

Day 3 : Sira

It was a good day, but as a team, we had to split as Pradeep had to stay back for the video editing team at the base Bapuji hostel. Vishnu joined team Bhoomi whereas I(Shreya) joined team Agni. Working with the other teams was a good experience as well.

Day4 : Siddhaganga Institute of Technology

As a team; Vayu, me and vishnu went to SIT in Tumkur along with the team Jala and Siddharth accompanying us while Pradeep was at the base subtitling the videos.
We had high expectations in terms of numbers as well as getting some quality dreams, but were little disappointed as we did not get enough dreamers there; we got few good dreams though.

Balaji's dream is to install a sheep feeding unit.

Jyothi dreams of helping poor people by employing them in her future venture of handicrafts and giving them various facilities.

Day5 : Chikkanayakanahalli

Again the team Vayu had to split as Pradeep was continuing the video editing and subtitling at the hostel. I joined team Agni again and Vishnu joined team Bhoomi. It was a kutty place; hardly any restaurant to eat. Sighs! We ended the day by interviewing Sri Doremuddaiah President of the Municipal Corporation office and he promised us that within 1 month sanitation problem will be solved. Lets see if it works for real or was that just over the video!

Day 6 : Tiptur

Yaay! Our team is back in action as our Kannadiga is back in the team! Phew the team can breathe now! We started off interviewing officials at BAIF institute accompanied by Sam. The best day it was for our team as we scored 5 Stars; meaning we got some real good dreams. Talking to Dr. Reddy was the best part. His dream was the best as he wants that we Indians should get back to basics and improve the systems that we following. Personally we hope that his dream comes true! Later we went to BSIT college and interviewed a bunch of students there. We were so indulged in dreamcatching that we skipped our lunch. The day ended on a happy note with a balance of quantity and quality dreams.

 With Dr. Reddy

 At BSIT college, interviewing students

Day7 : Turuvekere
Hmmm, so we went to this place called Turuvekere and hit a jackpot! Whoaa! After interviewing few people on the streets, we went to the Taluk office and interviewed the head of the Taluk and various government officials. Within few hours we managed to interview a good number of people. Among them, a young chap named Chandan who is just 22 yrs old has a superb dream. You should check out his video to know about it as it’ll leave a better mark rather than me writing and killing the feel!  Again an excellent and  total satisfactory day.

Here are the two amazing dreamers of the day:

Day8 : Gubbi

Gubbi , as per the name, the place was a tiny one. After interviewing some people on the streets, we went to Coir Development Corporation and interviewed the Official Incharge and had a stroll around the campus and saw the machines and men doing their work.  Meanwhile, we got to know that Vipin sir would be joining the dream journey for the day. He was with the team Agni at CIT. Later, we headed to a peaceful place; Chidambaram Ashram and spent few hours there, interviewed  two main people there and had lunch. Then again we hit the streets but people were too reluctant to talk. Today was a usual day.

Tomorrow, i.e.27th is the last day of the journey and we shall be targeting Korategere and leave for Bangalore by noon. Lets hope the journey ends on a fruitful and happy note.
